Mom

My mother passed away yesterday. She was something to say the least. A little bit of everything mixed together. I used to take her to Las Vegas in the late 90's twice a year and we wouldn't have a care in the world. Just like most folks, a lot of good times, bad times and everything in between. I can't put into words how much I'll miss her.

2 Dorks ((Schaeffer Farms with Louis)) Mothers Day Weekend

Rode Schaeffer Farms in Germantown on Saturday(May 12) with Louis. We wandered round and round, back and forth for about 16 miles. You don't have to be in great shape to have fun here. I had my singlespeed which is geared perfectly for this place. A few slobberheads tried to pull up on me to no avail. When I'd hear their derailleurs clinkin and clankin from behind I'd step on it a bit. There are some nice easy stunts there as well that still scare me. Couple of pics of the Olympic Qualifying race held at Greenbrier State Park a few weeks ago. The pros are amazing to watch. It's not just their fitness but also their ability to pick lines and stay smooth. Todd Wells flatted about 1/2 mile(not smooth) from the finish and still won. As fate would have it 2nd place (Jeremiah Bishop) (not smooth either) flatted also and rode the entire last lap on a flat tire still placing in 4th almost 8 minutes off the lead.

Its a babbbyyyyy.

Here are some pics of Amys visit with her late model humanoid Griffin. He's very cute.

C&O Canal (Brunswick to Harpers Ferry)

The nice weather has returned so I decided to get another flat ride in after work. Let me just say that the canal is flat but getting there is about a mile of steep downhill and coming home is a hill so steep it reminds me of San Fransisco. Its called Brickyard Hill and today I was standing in my 22x34. Amazing how much traction the road offers. Here are some pics of the canal taken around Brunswick and Harpers Ferry.

Todd Snider - Ascuagas Nugget Feb 23rd

We saw Todd Snider both Fri/Sat night at Ascuagas Nugget in Sparks. Both good shows with each having a unique feel. As you can see we had front row seats on this night. I've been a fan for a handful of years and seen him 1/2 dozen times. Saturday night he played a song called, 'Missing You'. I'd never heard it before and it immediately brought me to tears for the people and things I miss in my life. I am thankful to musicians who are able to pour out the good and bad as they feel it without shame and touch me. Since I can't return the favor in that I'm not an artist in any way shape or form I would just like to say thanks! This is part of the song Tension that was played on Friday night. 2nd link is Worst Case Scenearo which I didn't take.

Hike up to Maryland Heights overlooking Harpers Ferry

Today we hiked up to a spot called, 'Maryland Heights'. It overlooks Harpers Ferry West Virginia where the Potomac river meets the Shenandoah. It's a fairly easy hike if you're in shape but that wasn't the case for us today. These pics were taken from Maryland with Virginia off to the left and West Virginia straight ahead.
